CERTIFIED WELDER
Job Summary:
The Certified Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welds on structural steel components while ensuring compliance with industry standards, blueprints, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural welding, a strong understanding of welding procedures, and the ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural welding using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and/or GTAW processes as required.
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings to ensure precise welds.
Set up and operate welding equipment, ensuring proper settings and techniques for each job.
Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to AISC and AWS standards.
Perform grinding, cutting, and other necessary tasks to complete fabrication projects.
Work with fabrication teams to ensure proper fit-up and alignment of steel components.
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Conduct weld repairs as needed to meet quality requirements.
Assist in maintaining welding equipment and performing routine maintenance checks.
Qualifications:
Must hold a current AWS (American Welding Society) Certification or be able to pass a company welding test.
2+ years of experience in structural steel welding preferred.
Strong knowledge of welding procedures, techniques, and industry safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
Proficiency in using hand tools, grinders, and cutting torches.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and overhead welding.
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade school training is a plus.
